Photo Amour – La Maison des Deux Clochers

I’ve been busy with updating a few of my ads for the new year and have been rifling through photos I took of the houses this summer. I keep coming back to this one even though it isn’t at all appropriate for an ad; it doesn’t show much besides the freshly painted door to the cellar at La Maison des Deux Clochers.

And yet I still keep coming back and staring at it, and warm contentment washes over me every time I do.  Am I the only one?

    Hi Laura,

It’s simple and beautiful! A warmth flows over me too…athough, I think that’s because it invokes thoughts of tasting the wine that has been awaiting down there!

    Vive la France!

And you will be staying there in only 5 months! Do you see how there are curves in the big rocks that frame the door about a foot off the ground? Those were carved in by the stonemason in 1789 (when the house was built)so you could roll wine barrels into the cellar. The stonemason also left his initial carved in the rocks he installed – the kids love trying to find it. Happy trip planning! Laura

Love it! I would definitely be using that picture too. I took a million pictures of doors like that when I was in Burgundy. Charming!
